It is designed to give groups of between three to five people the opportunity to develop and nurture their innovative Information and Communications Technology (ICT) ideas with help from industry experts. BT joins Berghaus and the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) as the main sponsors of the programme. Big Ideas project manager Lisa Smith said “The Big Ideas ICT Youth Challenge is a unique initiative which will open up a world of opportunities for budding ICT entrepreneurs across the North East. “Entries for the competition are already coming in from across the region and the ‘first pitch’ stage, where teams will present their ideas to an expert panel, takes place in January. Connecting Communities Plus, Community Grants - Round 2
CDF is happy to announce the launch of Round 2 of a grants scheme for local communities, on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), to increase race equality and community cohesion within their own communities.

This £1 million fund is aimed at a local level and CDF believes local communities are in an excellent position to work with others to improve their own situations.

The grants scheme, Connecting Communities Plus, Community Grants, welcomes applications from small, locally run and managed voluntary and community organisations, often run by volunteers, who want to improve opportunities for people locally and to improve relations between people of different ethnic and/or faith backgrounds.

The Fund has four key priorities derived from 'Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society', the Government strategy to increase race equality and community cohesion.

The fund is available for groups/organisations in England and Guidance notes and application forms are available to download at www.cdf.org.uk

If you would like to talk to us about this fund please ring 01223 400343 or email us at ccplus@cdf.org.uk.  Closing date for applications is 29th March 2007.
