One of the best new multi purpose centres to be built in any of England's former Coalfield communities, the multi million pound Hetton Centre is a flagship for the Coalfield area.  The Council, Single Regeneration Budget, Sunderland Housing Group, Hetton Town Council, Sunderland College and Teaching Primary Care Trust have all invested in this excellent new facility.   Just some of the facilities available at the centre are:- Rooms for hire, Crèche, Education/training courses, Youth Club/drop in Age Concern, State of the Art Library and Electronic Village Hall, Bar, Cafe, Welfare Rights and the Police.

Hetton as a Learning Community provides FREE training and education courses to adults (19+)

Information Hetton Group Ministry includes all the Anglican churches in Hetton and covers the parishes of Eppleton, Hetton and Lyons (Easington Lane). We all join together for Sunday worship, times of service are:

1st Sunday in the month the worship is held at St Nicholas with Eppleton Church Hall at 10am.

Other Sundays we meet at St Michael's Church Lyons, Easington Lane also at 10am.

Tuesday Eucharist at St Michael's Lyons at 10am.

Office Hours: enquires for Baptisms and Weddings 2nd Monday of the month at St Michael's Lyons 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Everyone will be most welcome to come and join us in our workshop.

Up until recently the club has operated in a small wooden building, as the land has been sold off for redevelopment, the City of Sunderland Council generously allocated new premises in the centre of Hetton in the old library building.

The club is providing a range of sport and leisure activities to different sectors of the community. This includes boxing and fitness coaching, promote healthy living/eating and lifestyles. The programme also engages young people and provides a range of diversionary activities.

  • Mondays and Wednesdays - Boxing Beginners 5.45pm - 6.45pm, Boxing Squad 6.45pm - 8.30pm
  • Thursday - Public session 6.00pm - 8.00pm

Information HELP (Hetton, Houghton & Easington Lane Project) is for people in receipt of Sickness Benefits.  Support is know available to help you prepare for when you are ready to return to work.  You can get benefit advice, advice about job options & training, taster sessions e.g. confidence building, help with application forms, benefit protection, financial assistance and up to £1,000 when you start work.

Information Entry to Employment (e2e) is a learning programme to help young people realise their potential. There are a wide variety of creative and engaging opportunities available through e2e, including vocational options, personal development, work placements and job search skills. Learners also have the opportunity to achieve a wide range of accredited vocational qualifications through the e2e programme and can address their social needs as well as their learning needs, such as reading and writing.
