Brownies – Have fun, make thing and go on trips, singing play games, all develop personal and social skills.

Provides weekly toddler sessions for 0-3 year olds, Women’s Group, Boys Group at Easington Lane Community Access Point. They are a local group of women who have decided that by hosting toddler sessions, it gives us an opportunity to talk and share things with each other, and also helps our kids to mix with other kids, which is very good for preparing them into a classroom environment. One of the best new multi purpose centres to be built in any of England's former Coalfield communities, the multi million pound Hetton Centre is a flagship for the Coalfield area.  The Council, Single Regeneration Budget, Sunderland Housing Group, Hetton Town Council, Sunderland College and Teaching Primary Care Trust have all invested in this excellent new facility.   Just some of the facilities available at the centre are:- Rooms for hire, Crèche, Education/training courses, Youth Club/drop in Age Concern, State of the Art Library and Electronic Village Hall, Bar, Cafe, Welfare Rights and the Police.

Hetton as a Learning Community provides FREE training and education courses to adults (19+)

Funding has been awarded from the Coalfield Regeneration Trust to develop the club by recruiting more female members and by sponsoring 12 local young girls to develop their skills as golfers, and hopefully take them into regional/national events.

Meetings have been held with Houghton Kepier, Hetton School and Easington Lane Community Access Point. Recently several young women attended from ELCAP to test their skills as potential golfers. Feedback from the group has been positive and consideration is currently being given to attending Harrogate Junior Golf competition in August.

Six girls from Easington Lane have been enrolled on a professional coaching programme and have been attending the golf club once a week. Their attendance has been steady and feedback really positive. It is hoped that after the programme is completed, two of the girls will move into Regional Competition level.

Hetton Town Health and Boxing Club

Up until recently the club has operated in a small wooden building, as the land has been sold off for redevelopment, the City of Sunderland Council generously allocated new premises in the centre of Hetton in the old library building.

The club is providing a range of sport and leisure activities to different sectors of the community. This includes boxing and fitness coaching, promote healthy living/eating and lifestyles. The programme also engages young people and provides a range of diversionary activities.

• Mondays and Wednesdays - Boxing Beginners 5.45pm - 6.45pm, Boxing Squad 6.45pm - 8.30pm

• Thursday - Public session 6.00pm - 8.00pm

The Choir is not limited to Hetton; Concerts are given throughout the North East.

Choir meets every Friday between 7.15pm and 9.00pm at Easington Lane Community Access Point

Programmes are set up locally to provide services for families with children under 4 years old. Sure Start funding will be available to improve existing services, fill gaps of need and provide better support for families.

Saturday: St Nicholas Church Hall 10-11am tap & disco for over 10yrs

Saturday: At Hetton Centre 10-11.50am.  Freestyle disco dancing, rock & roll, slow and hip hop for 10yrs and over.

We also offer dance and performing art workshops during school holidays.  Parents are allowed to sit and watch your own child during class.
